DANCE STYLES

We offer classes for ages 2+ in ballet, jazz, contemporary, acrobatic dance, and musical theatre. Not sure which class is right for you? Simply contact us with your questions/concerns and we will come back to you with some suggestions.

PRESCHOOL TINY DANCERS (ages 2.5-4 years)

The perfect starting point for preschool-aged tiny dancers. In this class, we teach the basic principles of dance with a focus on improving fundamental movement patterns such as body awareness, coordination, and balance, whilst also allowing space for freedom of movement, musicality, and creative expression. Children will learn basic ballet and jazz dance steps to work towards higher levels of dance. We encourage children to create and dance both independently and with their classmates. As an optional extra, we work towards a short and sweet dance piece to perform at the end of the year for friends and family. This class runs for 30 minutes. Boys and girls welcome, and no uniform (except ballet shoes) required.

CLASSICAL BALLET (5+ years)

Precise, controlled, articulate and beautiful to watch - ballet has been a part of society and culture since the 19th century, and is still loved and adored by many today. Characterised by light, graceful movement, classical ballet is one of the hardest yet most rewarding styles of dance to perfect. Through our classes, students are encouraged to explore elements of creative expression alongside developing professional dance technique. Our syllabi of choice for ballet is the ATOD syllabi. ATOD offer a comprehensive syllabus for beginner to advanced ballet dancers. This syllabus is designed to encourage and inspire dancers, whilst providing solid technical dance training. It is appropriate for recreational dancers, and those who wish to pursue a career in dance.

JAZZ (5+ years)

Though highly technical, jazz is a fun, upbeat and sassy style of dance often seen in pop music videos, music concerts, stage shows and broadway. It is a great option for dancers who still enjoy the technical side of ballet, but prefer something with a bit more groove. Through our classes, students are encouraged to explore elements of creative expression alongside developing professional dance technique. Our syllabi of choice for both ballet and jazz is the Asia Pacific Dance Association (APDA) syllabi. They offer a fresh, fun, and comprehensive syllabus designed to encourage and inspire dancers, whilst providing solid technical dance training. This syllabus is appropriate for recreational dancers, and those who wish to pursue a career in dance. All dancers are invited to sit an annual examination in their chosen discipline/s.

CONTEMPORARY (7+ years)

Contemporary dance is currently one of the world's most popular dance styles. It is characterised by dynamic, expressive, and often unpredictable movement patterns. Contemporary dancers are excellent story-tellers, who strive to express ideas and opinions through evocative and powerful choreography. Whilst freedom of movement is encouraged, contemporary dance requires a high level of strength and technique. We currently teach the APDA syllabus. This syllabus provides each student with solid technical training, performance training, and the platform to create, achieve and grow as a dancer and artist.
